What It Is

Most of us were taught about the Bible - the stories, the characters, the verses. But there's a difference between knowing about Scripture and knowing how to approach it: how it works, where it came from, the context of the people and places and times in which it was written, and how all of it connects to the Gospel.

Built on the Word is designed to close that distance.

Over 10 courses, you'll explore how the Bible came to us - its history, its formation, its transmission - the context ehind the text, how the Old and New Testaments speak to each other, and why all of it matters to the Gospel, not just the familiar passages. Each course is 10 hours and is designed to be completed in community.

Who It's For

Built on the Word is for anyone who has ever sat in a Bible study feeling like everyone else understood something they didn't - and who is ready to stop feeling that way. No background required. No prior knowledge assumed. You just have to be willing to begin.

It's especially relevant for those in the Lay Servant pathway - lay servants, lay speakers, and Certified Lay Ministers who are or are preparing to lead worship and preach.

For pastors and church leaders

Approved for CEUs

Built on the Word has been approved by the Susquehanna Conference Committee on Lay Servant Ministries for continuing education units. Each course carries 1 CEU.
